AI infrastructure beyond Earth

The next frontier
of compute.
In orbit.

We’re developing orbital AI data centers for frontier AI labs and hyperscalers. Powered by the Sun. Built to scale. Starting with inference.

ASTERWATT / ORBITAL COMPUTEEARLY DEVELOPMENT · INFERENCE FIRST

01The opportunity

AI needs more compute.
Earth needs more options.

Power connections, land and cooling infrastructure take time to build. Asterwatt is exploring a new place for AI capacity: orbit.

A growing energy challenge.

The IEA projects that global data center electricity demand will nearly double between 2025 and 2030.

02The Asterwatt vision

A new layer of
AI infrastructure.

Design, mass-produce and operate modular orbital data centers. Sell reliable compute capacity to the companies building and serving AI.

01 / POWER

Solar energy in orbit.

Generate electricity on the platform, without relying on a terrestrial grid connection. Orbit and power storage still matter.

02 / COMPUTE

Inference first.

Run trained AI models. Start with selected batch workloads where communications and completion time can be planned.

03 / SCALE

Repeatable modules.

Develop a standard platform that can be manufactured repeatedly, with each generation informed by flight data.

How the platform would work

03Who we’re building for

For the builders
of frontier AI.

Our target customers are frontier AI labs and hyperscalers that need more compute capacity.

Our first workload
01

Frontier AI labs

Dedicated inference capacity for selected models and workloads, with clear performance and security requirements.

02

Hyperscalers

A potential additional source of capacity alongside their ground infrastructure, with agreed operating and service terms.

Target customer groups. No commercial deployments or customer agreements are announced.

04Where we are today

Big vision.
A measured first step.

Asterwatt is at the pre-seed stage. We’re forming the technical team and defining a first demonstrator to test the engineering and economics.

01

Define

Select the workload. Set power, thermal, mass and communications requirements.

02

Validate

Build and test on the ground. Measure performance and close the main engineering risks.

03

Demonstrate

Qualify a first flight experiment, subject to readiness, approvals and launch availability.
